The most important components of the online page are:

1. Country list

Shows a list of countries for the selected region (Europe in the example below). The numbers in parenthesis show how many pilots and ATCs are currently active. The number does not include booked or forecasted flights.

The box icon next to country name indicates that the country is split into a number of FIRs. By clicking the box, you can view data for each FIR individually.

2. Mode selector

The following modes are available: TEXT to show online users in a list view, and FIR, COUNTRY and REGION modes for a map overview. Note that FIR is only available if you have previously selected a FIR from Country list.

3. Online ATCs

Shows you ATCs currently online (normal font) or booked for the future (italic, green "booking" icon). Bookings are automatically merged with online people, so if the person who made a booking shows up, the booking entry is not shown any more. The booking end time however is displayed as the "until" time.

Note that all times are converted to your local time zone for your convenience. This is not UTC any more and you don't have to convert the times.

If you want to find out more about a particular ATC or pilot, just click on the applicable line in the list.

4. Online pilots

Shows a list of pilots currently online within your country / FIR. This includes all domestic flights, all international flights and all transit flights. However, flights that already left your airspace along the route, but departed from a local airport are filtered out.

A destination airport shown in bold means that the flight will be landing within your airspace.

5. Pilot forecast

The right part of the screen shows a list of flights that will soon enter your airspace, sorted by entry time. The data is produced from forecasts (2-hour, calculated automatically for all airborne flights) and from flight bookings. Booking information is automatically converted to forecast based on flight progress as the flight approaches your airspace.

If you're a controller, you can use this area to find out what traffic is expected in your airspace and when. A destination airport shown in bold means that the flight will be landing within your airspace. "+1" appended to time means "next day".

Note that all times are converted to your local time zone for your convenience. This is not UTC any more and you don't have to convert the times.

6. Details

If you click on a line describing a particular flight, a window with details appears:

The information above is hopefully self-explanatory. A couple comments however:

  • the personal image (avatar) only shows if the user has uploaded one for himself. See info page, Configuration for more information.
  • the flight forecast shows a list of FIRs that this flight will be crossing in the next two hours. The ">>" symbol in last line means that this flight will be in EGPX FIR at the end of the 2-hour forcasting period.
  • to add the pilot to your friends list, and thus see him on the start page every time he is online, click on "Add to friends list" on the bottom of the screen.
  • VATSIM statistics is a link to an external website showing the past activity of the user. You will need your VATSIM PID and password to access the site.
