(note: the COMException in last quoted lines is key. If you don't see it, the solution presented below is probably unapplicable)

then your ClickOnce store is probably corrupted. A possible solution proposed by Microsoft engineer in the MSDN forum and confirmed by a couple of vroute.info users is as follows:

Windows XP: (if you use Windows Vista or Windows 7, scroll down)

1. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\(your account name)\Local Settings\
2. Rename or move to a different location the Apps folder
3. Try installing vroute.info
4. Note that this solution might affect other ClickOnce programs if you have any. To restore previous state if desired, move the Apps folder to where it was.

For Windows Vista and Windows 7:

 1. Go to C:\Users\(your account name)\AppData\Local
2. Rename or move to a different location the Apps folder; also please delete VROUTE folder
3. Try installing vroute.info
4. Note that this solution might affect other ClickOnce programs if you have any. To restore previous state if desired, move the Apps folder to where it was.
